If you're renting your home or business space, you can still enjoy fast and reliable nbn® internet with Ezi Broadband you'll just need to check a few details before installation.
Most tenants can sign up and get connected easily, but depending on your property type, you may need landlord approval for certain installation work.
Why Permission Matters
When you sign up for an nbn® service, nbn® Co may need to install new equipment, drill holes, or run cabling through walls. As a tenant, you're responsible for getting permission from your landlord or property manager before any physical work takes place.
Common examples that require permission include:
Installing or relocating an nbn® connection box (NTD)
Running new coaxial or fibre cabling through internal or external walls
Mounting hardware on walls or near power outlets
Getting approval in advance helps avoid delays and ensures the installation can go ahead smoothly.
How to Prepare Before Ordering
Check your lease — Some rental agreements already include a clause that allows internet or nbn® installations. If not, contact your landlord or agent to discuss your options.
Confirm existing connections — Look for existing nbn® equipment inside your property, such as an nbn® wall socket or connection box. If your home already has this installed, no new work is required, and you can connect right away.
Provide landlord contact details — When placing your order, include your landlord or agent's contact details in the notes. If nbn® Co needs access or approval, our provisioning team will coordinate directly with them to avoid delays.
Choose a suitable location — Pick a spot near a power outlet, clear of obstacles, and ideally close to where you'll use your modem or main devices. Avoid shared spaces where the modem could be unplugged or damaged.
Installation Tips For Renters
Keep your equipment portable. If you move out, you can take your Ezi Broadband modem with you — just let us know your new address, and we'll transfer your service.
Don't alter cabling yourself. If you're missing an nbn® wall plate or socket, contact us instead of drilling or rewiring.
Document the setup. Take photos before and after installation to show your landlord the work completed by nbn® Co.
Notify your landlord when finished. It's a good idea to confirm that the installation is complete and everything is left neat and safe.
Moving to a New Rental?
If you're relocating, Ezi Broadband can transfer your service to your new address in just a few steps. We'll perform a new Service Qualification Check to confirm technology type and availability, then activate your plan at the new property once you've moved in.
