How To Prepare For Your nbn® Installation

Getting ready for your nbn® installation helps ensure everything goes smoothly on the day and that your new Ezi Broadband connection is up and running as soon as possible.
Depending on your nbn® technology type, a technician may need to visit your premises to complete setup or activate your service remotely.

Why Preparation Matters

Preparing in advance allows our team and nbn®  to complete your installation quickly and without interruptions. Having the right equipment, access, and information ready can prevent delays and additional technician visits.
Preparation helps us:
  • Confirm your address is ready for activation
  • Ensure your equipment (like your modem or nbn® connection box) is available on the day
  • Avoid scheduling changes or missed appointments

What To Do Before Your Installation

1. Check your appointment details

If your installation requires an nbn® technician, you'll receive an appointment date and time from Ezi Broadband.
  • Make sure someone aged 18 or older is home during this window.
  • If you need to reschedule, let us know at least 24 hours in advance.

2. Identify where your nbn® equipment will go

Choose a location inside your home that's:
  • Close to a power outlet
  • Near your main TV or home office area
  • Clear of heavy furniture or walls that could block Wi-Fi signals

3. Prepare your modem or router

If you purchased a modem from Ezi Broadband, keep it unopened until the technician confirms the connection is ready. If you're using your own modem, check that it's nbn®-compatible for your technology type (FTTP, FTTC, FTTN, HFC, etc.).

4. Check your existing cabling

  • For FTTN or FTTB, ensure the phone wall socket is accessible.
  • For FTTP or HFC, make sure existing nbn® or coaxial points aren't blocked.
  • Avoid using old splitters or filters unless instructed.

5. Provide easy access

Technicians may need access to:
  • External walls and utility boxes
  • Roof cavities or wall plates
  • Power points near the installation area

What Happens On The Day

  • The technician will confirm the best location for any required nbn® equipment (such as the NTD or HFC wall plate).
  • They'll install, test, and activate your connection.
  • Once the installation is complete, you can plug in your modem and connect your devices to Wi-Fi.
Tip: Keep your modem box, cables, and setup guide handy — you'll need them once your service goes live.

If Your Premises is Already nbn® Ready

In many cases, nbn® infrastructure is already installed at your address. If so, activation may happen remotely without a technician visit. You'll receive an email or SMS from Ezi Broadband confirming when your service is active and ready to use.
