TP-Link HX510 Setup Guide

TP-Link HX510 Setup Guide

The TP-Link HX510 is an EasyMesh-compatible Wi-Fi 6 router designed to deliver fast, reliable internet for your home or small office. Follow the steps below to set it up with your Ezi Broadband service.

What's in the box

When you open your HX510 package, you should find:

  • 1 × TP-Link HX510 Router
  • 1 × Power Adapter
  • 1 × Ethernet (LAN) Cable
  • 1 × Quick Installation Guide

Tip: If anything is missing or damaged, contact our support team before installation.

Step 1: Unpack and power on

  1. Place the router in a central, elevated location for best Wi-Fi coverage.
  2. Plug the power adapter into the HX510 and then into a working power outlet.
  3. Press the Power button (if not already on).
  4. Wait about 30 seconds — the LED on the front will flash yellow while starting up, then change to flashing blue once ready for setup.

Step 2: Connect to your nbn® equipment

The type of nbn® connection at your address determines where to plug in your router.

If you have FTTP, HFC, or FTTC:

  • Use the supplied Ethernet cable to connect the HX510's WAN port to the nbn® Connection Box (usually labelled UNI-D 1).
  • Make sure your nbn® box is powered on (lights should be visible).

If you have FTTN or FTTB:

  • Plug the Ethernet cable from the HX510's WAN/LAN port directly into your telephone wall socket.
  • The router will use VDSL2 to connect directly to the nbn® network (no nbn® box required).

Important: Ensure all cables are firmly connected before continuing.

The TP-Link Aginet App makes setup simple and ensures your router gets the latest firmware.

  1. Download the Aginet App — Available on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
  2. Log in or create a TP-Link ID — This allows you to manage your router remotely.
  3. Tap "Set Up Device" — The app should automatically detect your HX510 once powered on and nearby.
  4. Choose "Connect to a Modem" when prompted — This option is for nbn® setups using an nbn® box or wall outlet.
  5. Set up your local admin password — This password is used for accessing the router's settings, not your Wi-Fi or TP-Link ID.
  6. Configure your Wi-Fi network — Create a Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password for your home network. You can merge the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands for seamless roaming.
  7. Optional: Bind your router to your TP-Link ID for remote monitoring and cloud management.
  8. Finish setup — Once complete, the main LED will turn solid blue, indicating your internet connection is active.

Adding another HX510? Tap "Add Aginet" in the app to connect extra units and create a mesh network for whole-home coverage.

Step 4: Alternative setup via web browser

If you prefer to use a computer instead of the app:

  1. Connect your computer or laptop to the HX510 (Wi-Fi or Ethernet). The default Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password are printed on the label underneath the router.
  2. Open a browser and go to tplinkwifi.net (you can also try 192.168.0.1 if tplinkwifi.net doesn't load).
  3. Log in using the admin password printed on your router label (you'll be asked to change it during setup).
  4. Follow the Quick Setup Wizard:
    • Select Router Mode (default) or Access Point Mode (if connecting to another router).
    • Choose your connection type (Dynamic IP for most Ezi Broadband nbn® users).
    • Enter VLAN ID only if your Ezi setup instructions specify one.
    • Set your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password.
  5. Click Save to apply settings. Your router will reboot, and the LED will turn solid blue once connected.

Step 5: Final checks

Once setup is complete:

  • Confirm your devices can connect to Wi-Fi and access the internet.
  • In the Aginet App, you can:
    • View connected devices
    • Create parental controls
    • Pause or prioritise devices
    • Update router firmware remotely
