Which Modem Can I Use?

Ezi Broadband supplies different modem models depending on the nbn® technology available at your address. Using the correct modem ensures your service activates smoothly and performs at full speed.

Modem Compatibility By nbn® Technology

In Short

  • VX230v → Works with all nbn® technologies, including FTTN and FTTB. Features a built-in VDSL modem and a VoIP phone port.
  • HX510 → Designed for nbn® box-based connections only (FTTP, HFC, FTTC, Fixed Wireless, and Satellite). It cannot be used for FTTN or FTTB, as these do not include an external nbn® connection box. Supports Wi-Fi 6 and EasyMesh.
  • HB210 Pro → Our Wi-Fi 7 mesh system, ideal for whole-home coverage. Works with nbn® box-based connections only (FTTP, HFC, FTTC, Fixed Wireless, and Satellite). It cannot be used for FTTN or FTTB. Available in 1-pack, 2-pack, and 3-pack configurations depending on home size.

Which One Should I Choose?

  • Small home or apartment (1–2 bedrooms): A single HX510 or HB210 Pro will provide strong coverage.
  • Medium home (2–3 bedrooms): A single HB210 Pro or a 2-pack mesh setup is recommended.
  • Large home (3–4+ bedrooms or double storey): A 2-pack or 3-pack HB210 Pro mesh system ensures whole-home coverage with seamless roaming.
  • FTTN or FTTB connection: The VX230v is your only option, as it includes the built-in VDSL modem required for these connection types.

Using Your Own Modem (BYO)

You're welcome to use your own modem with Ezi Broadband, as long as it's compatible with your nbn® technology type. See our article on How To Activate Using Your Own (BYO) Modem for setup instructions.
