Checklist: What You’ll Need On Your Activation Day

Your nbn® activation day is when your Ezi Broadband connection goes live — either through a technician visit or a remote activation.

Having everything ready helps make the process quick and stress-free, so you can start enjoying your new connection right away.

Why it's important to prepare

A few small steps before your activation can make a big difference. Being organised ensures that your technician (if required) can complete the job in one visit, and that you can plug in your modem as soon as your service is active.

Preparation helps you:

  • Avoid delays or rescheduling
  • Ensure your modem and power setup are ready to go
  • Confirm the right location for your nbn® equipment

Your activation day checklist

1. Access to your property

If an nbn® technician is scheduled to visit:

  • Make sure someone aged 18 or older is home for the entire appointment window.
  • Clear any obstacles around wall sockets, power outlets, or existing nbn® equipment.
  • Keep pets secured and gates unlocked for easy access.

2. Power and outlets

  • Ensure there's a working power outlet near where the nbn® equipment will be installed.
  • Avoid using power boards or extension cords if possible.
  • Check that your electrical outlets are in good condition — nbn® devices need constant power.

3. Your modem or router

  • Have your Ezi Broadband modem or compatible nbn®-ready router ready for setup.
  • Keep all cables, power adapters, and setup instructions handy.
  • Don't plug in your modem until instructed by the technician or until you receive confirmation that your service is active (for remote activations).

4. nbn® equipment (if already installed)

Check whether you already have an nbn® connection box or wall socket inside your home.

  • For FTTP and HFC, look for an nbn® connection box (NTD) — it must always remain plugged into power.
  • For FTTN, FTTB, or FTTC, make sure your wall socket is accessible and undamaged.

5. A suitable location

Choose a setup spot that's:

  • Near a power outlet
  • Away from large appliances or thick walls that may block Wi-Fi
  • Centrally located for best coverage
  • Dry and well-ventilated — avoid placing equipment in cupboards or on the floor

6. Your Ezi Broadband order details

Have your welcome email handy — it contains:

  • Your activation date and time
  • Your Ezi Broadband order number
  • Links to setup guides and troubleshooting articles

Tip: If you haven't received your activation email by the morning of your appointment, contact Ezi Support for confirmation.

What happens after setup

Once your technician finishes (or once you receive your activation confirmation), plug in your modem and wait for the lights to stabilise. You can then connect your devices via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and start browsing immediately.
