If you already own a compatible nbn® modem or router, you can use it with your new Ezi Broadband service. We call this a BYO (Bring Your Own) modem setup.
This guide will help you get connected and confirm your service is active.
Before You Start
Make sure your modem:
Is nbn®-ready and supports your specific nbn® technology type (e.g. FTTP, FTTN, FTTC, HFC, Fixed Wireless).
Is unlocked (not restricted to your previous provider).
Supports PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) connection type.
If your modem isn't compatible, you can purchase a pre-configured Ezi modem directly from us for a plug-and-play setup.
Step 1: Wait for your activation notice
You'll receive an email or SMS from Ezi Broadband confirming that your service is active. Do not attempt to connect before this — your modem won't authenticate until the line has been activated by nbn® Co.
Step 2: Connect your modem to the nbn® equipment
The setup depends on your nbn® technology type:
FTTP, FTTC or HFC:
FTTN or FTTB:
Fixed Wireless or Satellite:
Step 3: Enter your Ezi Broadband login details
Log into your modem's web interface (usually there are access details on the bottom of your modem).
In your modem settings:
Go to the Internet / WAN / Broadband section.
Choose PPPoE as the connection type.
Enter your username and password from your welcome email.
Save or apply the changes.
Your modem should connect within a few minutes once the details are correct.
Step 4: Confirm your connection
Once the modem connects successfully:
If the light remains off or flashing after five minutes, double-check your login details and restart your modem.
Step 5: Test your Wi-Fi
After confirming the connection:
If Wi-Fi isn't working, connect via Ethernet first to confirm your internet signal, then update your modem's wireless settings.
Troubleshooting Tips
If your BYO modem won't connect:
Double-check your username and password.
Make sure you've selected PPPoE as the connection type.
Restart both your nbn® connection box and modem.
Reset your modem to factory settings if it was previously used with another provider.
