What nbn® Technology Do I Have?

Every home and business connects to the nbn® network in a slightly different way — that's because there are several nbn® technologies used across Australia. Knowing which one you have helps us make sure you get the right setup, the right modem, and the best performance.

How to check your nbn® technology

  1. Go to our official nbn® Address Checker.
  2. Enter your address and click the search icon.
  3. The results will show your technology type (for example, FTTP, FTTN, or HFC).

nbn® Connection Types Explained

Why it matters

Your connection type determines:

  • The modem you'll need (some require nbn® boxes, others connect directly)
  • How quickly your service can be activated
  • Whether a technician visit is required

If you're unsure, our team can confirm your connection type and recommend the right setup.
