Static IP Addresses

Static IP Addresses

Ezi Broadband offers static IP addresses on all residential plans at no additional cost, with no setup fees. We also don't use Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT), meaning every customer receives a real public IP address by default.

What Is a Static IP Address?

A static IP address is a permanent, fixed internet protocol address assigned to your connection that doesn't change over time. Unlike dynamic IP addresses — which may change periodically — a static IP remains constant, making it ideal for applications that need a consistent address to work reliably.

No Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT)

Ezi Broadband does not use Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT) on any of its services. All customers receive a real public IPv4 address by default, whether on a dynamic or static IP assignment.

CGNAT is a technique used by some internet providers to share a single public IP address among multiple customers, which can cause issues with port forwarding, remote access, gaming, VoIP, and security camera systems.

Because Ezi Broadband does not use CGNAT, you get full control over your connection — including port forwarding and hosting services — without the limitations commonly associated with shared IP addresses.

Who Needs a Static IP?

A static IP is useful if you:
  1. Run security cameras with remote viewing access
  2. Use remote desktop or VPN connections to access your home network
  3. Host a VoIP phone service
  4. Run a personal server (web server, game server, file server)
  5. Need reliable port forwarding for specific applications
  6. Require a consistent IP address for any device or service

Availability and Pricing

  1. Static IP addresses are available on all Ezi Broadband residential plans
  2. There is no additional monthly cost
  3. There are no setup fees
  4. This is a standard offering — no eligibility criteria beyond having an active service

How To Request a Static IP Address

Contact the Ezi Broadband support team through any of the channels listed below and request a static IP. Our team will provision the static IP at the network level — you don't need to manually configure anything on your modem or devices. Setup time is minimal once the request is submitted.

How To Set a Static Internal IP on Your Home Network

If you're looking to assign a fixed internal IP address to a specific device on your home network (for example, a gaming console, security camera, or printer), you can do this through your modem's DHCP reservation settings. This is separate from your public static IP — it simply ensures a device always gets the same local address on your Wi-Fi network.

Step 1: Log in to your modem

  1. Make sure your device is connected to your modem via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  2. Open a web browser and go to http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.1.1 (for VX230v) or http://192.168.88.1 (for HB210 Pro).
  3. Enter your admin username and password. These are printed on the label underneath your modem unless you've changed them.

Step 2: Find the DHCP or Address Reservation settings

  1. Navigate to Advanced → Network → DHCP Server → Address Reservation (wording may vary by model).
  2. This section lists all devices currently connected to your network.

Step 3: Add your device

  1. Click Add or + to create a new reservation.
  2. Choose your device from the list or manually enter its MAC address.
  3. Enter the IP address you want to assign (for example, 192.168.1.100).
  4. Click Save or Apply.

Step 4: Restart your device

  1. Disconnect your device from Wi-Fi or unplug its Ethernet cable.
  2. Reconnect it after a few seconds.
  3. It will now always use the same IP address on your home network.

Tips:

  1. Pick an IP address within your router's range (usually 192.168.1.2 – 192.168.1.254).
  2. Avoid using an IP address already assigned to another device.
  3. Only reserve static IPs for devices that need them — most devices work fine with automatic addressing.
