How to Connect Your Devices After Activation

How to connect your devices after activation

Once your nbn® service with Ezi Broadband has been activated and your modem is online, you can start connecting your devices to Wi-Fi or via Ethernet.

This quick guide will help you get everything connected, tested, and ready to use.

Confirming your activation

Before connecting your devices, make sure your service is fully active. You'll know your activation is complete when:

  • You've received a confirmation email or SMS from Ezi Broadband
  • The Internet light on your modem is solid green (not flashing)
  • You can access websites on at least one connected device

If you haven't received an activation message yet, check your modem lights and wait a few more hours — some activations occur later in the day.

Step 1: Connect to Wi-Fi

  1. Find your Wi-Fi name (SSID) — the Wi-Fi network name and password are printed on the sticker on the back or bottom of your Ezi Broadband modem.
  2. Open Wi-Fi settings on your device (phone, laptop, tablet, smart TV, etc.).
  3. Select your network name from the list of available networks.
  4. Enter your Wi-Fi password exactly as shown — passwords are case-sensitive.
  5. Wait for the connection to establish — once connected, your device should display a Wi-Fi symbol or confirmation message.

Tip: If your modem broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, use the 5GHz band for faster speeds (short range) and 2.4GHz for better coverage (long range).

Step 2: Connect via Ethernet (optional)

For devices that require a stable, high-speed connection — like desktop PCs, gaming consoles, or smart TVs — use an Ethernet cable.

  1. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into any LAN port on your modem (labelled LAN1–LAN4).
  2. Plug the other end into your device's Ethernet or LAN port.
  3. Your device should automatically detect the connection within a few seconds.

This provides the fastest, most reliable connection — perfect for streaming or online gaming.

Step 3: Connect smart home and entertainment devices

Most smart TVs, security cameras, and streaming boxes (like Chromecast, Apple TV, or Fire TV) connect via Wi-Fi. During their setup process, select your home Wi-Fi network and enter the same password used for other devices.

If prompted, allow the device to update firmware after connecting — this ensures full compatibility with your nbn® service.

Note: If a smart device won't connect, try connecting it to your 2.4GHz network — many older IoT devices don't support 5GHz.

Step 4: Test your connection

  • Open a browser and visit a few websites.
  • Run a speed test at speedtest.net to confirm your connection is performing as expected.
  • If speeds seem low, try restarting your modem and checking how many devices are online.

Step 5: Secure your network

For added privacy and control:

  • Change your Wi-Fi name and password in your modem settings (optional).
  • Create guest networks for visitors or temporary access.
  • Keep your modem firmware updated for better performance and security.
