How to Check for nbn® Outages In My Area

If your internet has suddenly stopped working or slowed down, there may be an nbn® network outage or planned maintenance in your area.

Checking for outages is quick and can help determine whether the issue is with your equipment or the wider network.

Step 1: Visit the official nbn® Network Status page

Go to: www.nbnco.com.au/support/network-status

This page shows:

  • Current outages and planned maintenance in your area.
  • The type of work being carried out (for example, network upgrades or repairs).
  • The expected restoration time, if available.

Step 2: Enter your address

In the search box on the nbn® status page:

  1. Type your full address, including suburb and postcode.
  2. Click Search or Check address.

The page will show whether there's:

  • A known outage affecting your connection.
  • Planned maintenance scheduled in your area.
  • Or no issues detected (meaning your connection issue may be local).

Step 3: What to do next

  • If there is an outage, your connection will automatically come back online once the work is complete — no action is needed.
  • If there isn't an outage, follow our guide "My internet isn't working — what should I do?" to troubleshoot your equipment and connection.

Tips

  • During an outage, avoid restarting or resetting your modem repeatedly — it won't reconnect until the network is restored.
